Wide seams tend to look ugly. Those 1/16" thin black lines in a new teak deck look absolutely gorgeous even if they are trouble waiting to happen. I have found that with 2" wide teak planks, 1/8" seam width is the absolute smallest you should use. 3/16 will give you 50% less trouble. 1/4" will give you 75% less trouble.
