Re: Subfloor Thickness. 1/2" subfloor sounds a bit thin, should be 5/8" or 3/4". If your current subfloor has much for deflection between the joists, then you may want to consider adding another layer. If you are not noticing much for deflection, then just install the flooring.

A 3/8-inch subfloor is the bare minimum needed to be a good support. For heavier floors, such as WPC, something closer to 9/16 of an inch is better. Smooth Surface. A smooth surface is necessary for a subfloor. A subfloor that is less than 1/2-inch thick will dimple or cup in the middle over time.
Many years ago it was standard practice to use 1/2" ply as the first layer of the "subfloor-underlayment" system", then follow with a sheet of 5/8" in the rooms that received vinyl. However I have not seen where the first layer was 1/2" OSB. That would be really bad. Are you sure it's not 5/8" at least?

the subfloors need to be thicker. For joist spacing of more than 16 inches up to 19.2 inches on center, the minimum thickness for both plywood and OSB is 3/4 inch. For joists spaced more than 19.2 inches on center, the minimum thickness for plywood is 7/8 inch and for OSB, 1 inch.
